A Weekend in Maui :: Day 3 Pt 2

Finally! Day of the wedding! And beautiful it was!

The wedding was outdoors on a cliff and overlooking the beautiful Kapalua beaches. It was slightly windy but nothing we could not handle. Guests were given disposable cameras to take photos of the wedding night from their own perspectives so that they bride and groom had something to look forward to later. The tables were arranged with fresh flowers, place settings/menus, and sandals as wedding favors! These sandals would come in handy at the end of the night. We were served tropical cocktails (and beer and wine) before the meal. During dinner, we had shrimp and scallop stuffed gyozas, caprese salad, filet mignon, and wedding cake and cheesecake for dessert!

Throughout the evening, we had a live musician who was singing all sorts of love songs while playing the guitar. He did some awesome covers of various songs. He even took requests! So, we requested "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard but for some reason he laughed... and only played a couple of chords.... after his break, he came back and played at least the chorus and sang, for us!

The bride and groom took their first dance as newly weds and after everyone was done eating and dancing, we all slipped our new flip flops on and went out and lit some wishing lanterns! It took lots of teamwork and effort to get these guys unraveled, lit, and floating in the air. I think everyone enjoyed this. This was a really cute idea. We also lit sparklers too but... my camera died!

All in all, a great wedding. Lots of fun. Very small and intimate group in a beautiful and tropical place.

I hope you enjoyed my Maui photos. Have a great Friday everyone!

On the day of the wedding, we had some time before the ceremony to enjoy the sun and lay out for a bit. I begged the friendboy to go outside and enjoy the Maui beach. Yeah, I could see it from my hotel room window but it's not the same as walking on it. I got slightly tanned but....  not as tan as I had hoped! I have not gotten a good tan since I was a kid!

After spending some time on the beach, we went to check in at the Ritz Carlton since that was where the wedding was. The friendboy decided to surprise me with staying a night there also. Plus, it was more convenient to be able to crash there once all the wedding festivities were done.

We were lucky enough to get a corner room that had both a view of the pools and a view of the ocean. Our room was very nice and cozy. We were also given mai tais as a welcome gift later that evening!

A Weekend in Maui :: Day 2 Pt 2

After walking in the morning, the friendboy and I decided to head back to Lahaina and enjoy some burgers at Cool Cat Cafe. They were quite tasty... so tasty I forgot to take photos of them... sorry!

We also roamed around outside at the nearby Banyan Tree Park. These trees are amazing! I remember visiting this park when I was younger and was amazed at how large these brances were. Now, they are everywhere! In fact, there are posts holding these branches up because they're so long/big.

For the rehearsal dinner, we ate at DUO at the Four Seasons Hotel in Wailea. It's one of the groom's favorite restaurants in Maui... and for good reason! We had a pre-fixe menu that was set by the soon-to-be-married couple and it was amazing! The restaurant and hotel property was beautiful! If you're ever in Wailea in Maui, definitely check them out and try the food. It is delicious! My favorite, Truffle Mac n Cheese. I actually had the sirloin and the friendboy actually got the Mahi Mahi. Both were so juicy/tender. The cotton candy at the end of everything was a parting gift from the restaurant. Everyone gets it!

A Weekend in Maui :: Day 2 Pt 1

The next morning, I got to wake up with the above view outside my bedroom window. I also decided to walk around by myself. Grabbed some breakfast at the hotel and then took the car down to Lahaina to get my nails did at Soleil Luna. Also enjoyed the sites. I've been to Maui a couple of times before and so it was familiar territory. What I also love is that everyone is so friendly. The mail man noticed I was walking around and snapping photos and he was telling me where else I should walk to. Super nice!

The friendboy went deep sea fishing with the men. Why shouldn't I get to treat myself to a nice pedicure?? :) They did an awesome job and were very friendly also!

Pretty quiet on Front Street in Lahaina during the morning. I actually enjoyed it being less crowded.

My attempt at being artsy with photos. I actually quite like the above photo.

I hope you aren't bored of my photos. Looking at these makes me want to go back to Maui. I promise, there WILL be outfit posts to come!

A Weekend in Maui :: Day 1 Pt 2

Sorry for being MIA. It's been quite busy since being back!! I am slowly, but surely uploading photos and getting them on the blog! Had a nice relaxing weekend there... though, I could have used another day or two there. Who wouldn't?

Anyway... to continue on with my weekend in Maui (for a friend's wedding).

We arrived at around 11AM in Maui and had pretty much a whole day to roam around.

As soon as we got out, this was what we had to look at. Beautiful palm trees swaying in the warm Hawaiian winds. It's funny because, we totally have palm trees at home in Southern California... but they just don't look like this!

And you definitely don't see water as blue as this on drive up and down the coasts. I mean, I can still appreciate and admire the water off of PCH  in SoCal but... this is definitely BLUE water.

Had some delicious lunch at Mala Ocean Tavern in Lahaina. I otdered the Balinese Stirfry with Island Fish and the friendboy got the Ahi Burger. Nice treat to start off our Hawaiian weekend getaway.

This was part of our view during lunch. Beautiful.

There's more to come. We took more than about 500 photos while there. Another person that was part of the wedding family took 1800! Crazy!
