San Francisco Sunnies

I'm slow... I know. I have all these things to share with you but have had difficulty finding a moment to upload all these photos!

As you recall, I had mentioned that I would be going up to San Francisco for a weekend. That was... a couple of weekends ago.

In any case, I wanted to share the awesome view we had from our hotel! We were lucky enough to stay at the W Hotel in SoMa.

We were getting ready to go to Napa with another friend of ours that lives in the city.

It was slightly overcast initially, in San Francisco.

We had a view that over looked a lot of nice buildings, playgrounds and parks, and Bloomingdales... which was very dangerous and tempted my girlfriend and I everyday...

And I just loved the color of the blue walls and the pink floral pillow accents... had to take a photo with my grey shoes up against them!

I love San Francisco! I want to go back!

This weekend I am planning to go to Vegas! I have not been there in so long! It's going to be quite a short trip but hopefully the food and the company in those short moments, make up for it! :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Going out for drinks with friends. Quick outfit. Leather jacket. Done.

LA Color Rush

Hope everyone had a great Father's Day weekend. We celebrate the way we know best.. with food. But I'll talk about food later.

I've been a native SoCal girl all my life. I've never lived anywhere else. I'm spoiled by the weather (I get cold when its 70 degrees), the food (as you can see from my gluttony posts), and especially the scenery! Perhaps you're from here and you're thinking, "Pssh! What scenery?" Or... you're not from here and you're thinking, "You mean all that 'graffiti' behind you in those photos?"

I think when I was younger, I never paid much attention to the "writings on the walls" (The literal writings. Not the Destiny's Child's album. Just clarifying). I used to never really understand why people HAD to put all their art on the sides of freeways or on random buildings. But over the years, I've come to appreciate it. I like finding it when I do and my favorites will always be the drawings/paintings off of the 101frwy/Spring Street exit (which they've actually photographed, hung as a banner, and painted over the originals... sad).

I'm also not saying that I like ALL the walls of LA to be painted on. I still enjoy green trees and flowers and a "clean" and a polished look. I just think that some areas have so much more character with people's artwork, proudly displayed for all to see, share, and love. It's a nice rush of color in one moment then back to peace in the next.

Until next time my friends... Oh and... Happy Monday!

Olives & Flowers

Wasn't feeling all that "fabulous" a few days ago. Decided to just dress in something quick and cozy. I'm sure you all get those kinds of days where you just want to go with something quick and easy.

Lots of oldies but goodies in this post. Sometimes some of the best outfits and most cozy are your old worn in pieces. Also, I've heard a lot of people say that they do not like buying H&M products/clothing because of quality. But I've had this hobo bag for awhile now and it's done me good. I think its wearing now... but I've probably had for 4-5 years? I think I've gotten my $24.95 worth. Don't you think?

A Friend in Tweed is a Friend Indeed at Yamashiro

I kind of borrowed the post title from a Paul Frank frame name.

Anyway, this past weekend, we celebrated the friendboy's sister's birthday! Happy Birthday C! She wanted to have a birthday with a nice view. So we took her to Yamashiro in Hollywood. It's on top of a hill and overlooks Los Angeles. Nice view of Downtown LA, Hollywood night lights, and the valley!

We had some delicious food there. I haven't been there in some time and I think when I did go last, we only had appetizers. I can't even remember what I ate last time but I can remember this time! Plus we took some photos. Talk about picture-perfect memory. ;)

Started off with some cocktails. I ordered a "Bernheimer Basil Mojito" (muddled strawberry & basil). The friendboy swapped his "Yama-jito" (cranberry juice, sake, cane sugar, and mint) with the birthday sis and drank her "Lyhcee Margarita" (it was a bit strong).

We had some Fanny Bay oysters on the half shell. It was served with an interesting Wasabi sauce and better yet, a Yuzu sauce! Very tasty!

I'd show you pictures of the Kurobota Pork Carnitas (why does this menu item sound redundant to me?) but we didn't get any :( It's okay... we had the above Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice appetizer. I really like crispy rice! I know this isn't "true sushi" but it was pretty delicious and paired well with the rice texture. If you ever want really good sushi, please go to Sushi Zo. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny... or maybe thousands. Make sure you get omakase and eat til your heart's content!

Friendboy and I both got the Shoyu Glazed Black Cod. We usually try to get something different but I really wanted this and so did he. So we decided, why not? Very tender, flaked nicely, light "shoyu" (soy sauce) flavoring. Served with Shiso mushrooms, spinach, and wasabi mashed potatoes. Decently sized also.

Friendboy's parents ordered the Himalayan Salt Plate. On this plate, literally made of salt, is served with American Wagyu Beef and you get to sear and cook it yourself on this salt plate. It comes served at over 400 degrees and you just cook to your liking. And there's no additional seasoning required because the plate is... salty. Very neat concept. I've always wanted to try this Himalayan salt plate out for cooking. I've seen it sold. It's not cheap for the block of salt. But you can reuse it. You just rinse it off and reheat/reuse again. P.S. for the bite of steak that I had, I can attest to the flavorful taste.

We did not forget dessert! Well, actually, we forgot to take pictures of all the desserts... except for this one. Dessert Sushi. You're probably thinking, eww... dessert fish? Actually, if you look closely, it's fruit on top of rice pudding. That "wasabi" is actually green tea ice cream. Cute idea!

Since we had out camera on us (for the food), we were able to sneak some photo ops in!

Some scenic views of Los Angeles.

Friendboy pretending to be a fashion blogger also. :) I chose to omit some of his other "poses". Trust me, it was for your sake.

Have a great week everyone!!

Spring into the Gap

The friendboy and I were trying to kill some time by walking around the mall for a bit while waiting to meet some friends for dinner last Friday. We decided to shop a bit... never a safe idea.

While I have not purchased anything from Gap in years, I was pleasantly surprised by my findings in the sales section!

Pink Blazer (unlined) 30% off $40! Similar here
I really liked this pink blazer. I currently have a blush pink linen blazer (that you may have seen here) as well as a forest green, golden yellow, black, white, and ivory. I am still trying to build up my blazer collection.

Gap is also offering 25% off online orders through 4/18 with promo code GAPSAVE.

Blush Pink Pleated Trench Coat, found here. On sale for $49 with 30% off!

I've always wanted a trench coat. This color was cute. It looks more tan in this picture but I can gaurantee you that it is more blush than it is tan.It was a little big. Sizes at Gap tend to run a bit larger... which makes me feel a little better. This was a small. I could have easily taken an XS. Unsual for me.

Charcoal gray Pin-Striped Blazer, on sale from $40 with 30% off. Way too big. The smallest size left was a size 6!
Found here

Again, my love for blazers led me to try on the above pin-striped coat. Luckily for my wallet, I was not able to find a smaller size.

Green Utility Skirt, similar here (I kind of like the linked ASOS skirt better)
I have been hunting down a green skirt in quite some time now. This isn't the exact type of green skirt that I was looking for but at 30% off. Who could beat that? It has pockets! Unfortunately, the stylish security pin on the right does NOT come with the skirt. But I think I'll be able to manage without.

I came in wearing this:

Casual Wear :: On the Go, Quick!

I don't know about you but lately I've been in this "I just want something easy" look. I accompanied a friend to the SGV (San Gabriel Valley) area to look at cars. It was a spur of the moment thing, so I just threw on some jeans, a top, and some wedges. And, voila!
