Landry Fields & Cameron Jones

Guess what?!?!?! I have to share with you! Over the weekend, I got to meet some NBA basketball players! I don't know how many of you watch NBA games or how into athletes you are but, I think this is the coolest thing ever.

I was honored with a chance to meet Landry Fields and Cameron Jones. If you are not familiar, Landry played for the New York Knicks alongside Jeremy Lin and Cameron Jones currently plays for the Indiana Mad Ants (NBA Developmental League).

The two athletes were coming into the shop to get fitted! Can you believe that? Two NBA players WANT to wear our den.m bar jeans! Amazing!

Measurements time!

By the way, I just learned this that day of the two guys coming in but, wearing shorts to your fitting is not the best thing to do. Apparently, shorts are thicker and harder to measure around for your denim jeans fitting.

For Landry and Cameron's sake, I opted to not photograph some of the "embarassing" measurements such as their inseams. I'll spare you this time guys! :)

Landry and Cameron are the nicest guys ever. I really enjoyed working with them. Very polite, funny, and just all around good guys.

The two guys also took home some of our denim ties too! Can't wait to see them sportin' our stuff :)

And just for kicks... a picture to show you how freakin' tall they are compared to us!! I literally bent my head as far back as I could to look up and greet them/shake their hands when they walked in! Cameron is 6'4" and Landry is 6'7".

Good luck to Landry Fields, who just signed with the Toronto Raptors and to Cameron Jones in your career with the NBA as well :) Look forward to crossing paths with you more often!

...Still a little starstruck. Wouldn't you be?

Wishful Wednesday :: Cyber Window Shopping

I like to window internet shop. I don't know about you but I always add a ton of things to my cart. Things I absolutely think I have to have. And then, I "X" out of the window and just "pretend" that I never saw those things or stop myself from spending money I don't have. It's so easy to virtual window shop from home, in your PJs, guilt-free with no one watching.

Going to window shop with you here.

TopShop Structured Blazer

Sam Edelman Yelena Strappy

Nasty Gal Bright Angle Blazer

Sunday Market Tote in Cat

How could I not like this "Kat" tote??

Ray-Ban Clubmaster Sunnies

In a perfect world, I would be able to pull off any style of frame/sunglass such as the one pictured above. But alas, I'll have to remove these from the cart. Darn.

Is anyone else as weird as me? Please don't let me feel alone on the virtual window shopping! If you also do the same thing, what are some of the things you put into your cart?

Milestone Monday :: den.m bar Fitting

Guess what?! I've reached a blogger milestone! This is the 100th post I've written! Kind of hard to believe that I actually have that many posts under my belt. Feels like I have maybe 20. But 100?! I'm still soaking up that thought!

Of course I want to share with you my own personal experience at den.m bar.

Saturdays are REALLY busy for den.m bar so it's always best to make an appointment... instead of just "walk in" like I did. I did some waiting until Zach, the person who would be measuring me, was free. So, I had to entertain myself.

It was my turn and Zach need to measure my waist.

Next, my hips. If there's one thing I've been insecure about, it's my hips/thighs. I've always felt that I am un-proportionate because I've got "big hips" compared to my actual waist. Maybe it doesn't seem like it to some but, to me, I've dealt with this for a very long time. I'm a lot better about it now but having to lift my shirt to let Zach measure my hips was a bit uncomfortable for me... especially with my "photographer" snapping photos a few feet away.

And of course, there's measuring the length of the pant leg.

We also need to measure both the inseam and also the and the calf area and there is also one other measurement that I do not have photographed which is the crotch area.

I've selected the Skinny Straight style because though I like the skinny jean snug fit, I like for the pant chute opening to be just a tiny bit wider to get in and out of comfortably. After all my measurements are collected, they make your jeans but leave certain areas, such as the waistline/band, unfinished, for a final fitting before completion. So, I will have to go back in one more time for that before I can wear them in my next post.

And what's nice about den.m bar (that I actually did not know before) is that once your measurements have been taken, they store that information and have your pattern on file for future orders. It's a lot easier the next time 'round. Unless you lose weight or suddenly get a lot taller ;) then you might need to go back in again. And if you haven't noticed, for my readers, den.m bar is offering 10% off your order when you mention "An Eye For Fashion". Some items are now available online (such as accessories)!

Thanks for all your support over the last few months to a year in reading my posts. Thanks to those special people who have helped me get this far. You know who you are. And for those of you who don't, I'll link you!

Chambray & Denim

I was never much of a fan of "denim on denim" and thought it was overkill. But lately, I've noticed a change in my thinking. Maybe because I've been seeing a lot more people trying out this look and if done right, it hadn't been tacky.

Part of the inspirtation for my outfits have come from ...love Maegan. I had to come up with a "denim" outfit for an event with den.m bar over the past weekend. It all worked out!

626 Night Market :: Den.m Bar

For those of you in Southern California, you may have known about the 626 Night Market. That happened on Saturday this past weekend. We were there in support of den.m bar's booth. Some of you may know, some of you may not. If it seems like I write about den.m bar a bit it is because the friendboy is part owner of the company (this is recent). I have yet to own a pair of my own. But please know that anything I review is my own opinion.

I know that for some of you who did end up going to the Night Market, it was a zoo! I saw from our booth. We were planning on walking around but opted to stay in our own space.. truthfully, it was safer! I saw massive crowds from where we were standing. Friends of ours came by to visit because well, that's all they could do. There was no place to walk. Other friends of ours ended up leaving because they couldn't even get in! As much of a mess as it was, I take it as a learning experience for the committee in charge of planning and for us vendors. While many may have thought it "sucked," I think this allows room for growth and improvement. Would I go next time? Perhaps. Perhaps I'll wait a few rounds when they've worked out the kinks and the hype has died down. Afterall, this is the first time Southern California has EVER had a Night Market.

I don't have a ton of pictures of our surroundings but I do have a few snapshots from den.m bar's view.

Sunny Side Up with a Side of Denim

The friendboy’s sister was nice enough to bring me home some skinny jean leggings from Uniqlo in New York. Went ahead and tried them on for the first time.

I felt it was great in the leg area (I have trouble with jeans being too long for my short legs). However, it was a wee bit baggy in the hip area. These jean leggings are drawstring, which I was not aware of until putting them on. In fact, it was a wee bit too big making some of the denim bunch up in front. I think after a slight altering or modification in the hip/waistline, it will be perfect! On the other hand, if I have a big lunch, it might come in handy… Hmm, let’s hope it doesn’t get to that point.

den.m bar - Bespoke Jeans

What is Bespoke?

It's a term that people use to describe products that are custom made. They are personalized and modified according to the customer's requirements, needs, and taste. I tend to think of how in the optical world, we make a pair of lenses that are custom made specifically for the patient. Everyone is different when it comes to their prescriptions and visual needs. Everyone is also different with their clothing needs too.

I have a couple of friends that are opening up a custom jean store. And when I say custom, it isn't just a pair of previous made jeans that get altered to your leg length or waistline. Or, an alterations/tailoring type setting. This is actually a legitimate store front where they have rolls of denim, premium denim, ready for measuring on the customer's body, and into a perfect pair of jeans for you! It's cool because they have a few different washes, different types of buttons to choose from, zipper styles, threading/stitching, and cuts!

How it Works:

This past weekend, I had a chance to visit the store front. I went a bit unprepared and only have a couple of camera phone photos and also some photos of their completed projects. More to come from their grand opening night!
